On the 28th of September 2008, the world's first ever Formula 1 night race took place in Singapore at 8pm, with Fernando Alonso winning. The race was the most exciting race this season, with lots of incidents. Felipe Massa started from pole position, but an error on his 15th lap caused him a good finish. he pitted in the 15th lap but he was given the green light to go while the fuel hose was still attached to his car. He was given a drive-through penalty for the incident. Two other drivers, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica, were given 10 second stop-go penalties but both recovered to finish superbly.
