Man U hammers Hammers

Manchester United beat the Hammers or better known as West Ham United 2-0 at home, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice in the first half. His goal tally for the season now stands at 5 goals and it seems that he has recaptured the form that saw him score 42 goals last season. There were claims at the beginning of the season that he was sulking after he failed to engineer a move to Real Madrid but he had put up and inspiring display in front of the Old Trafford crowd. The Red Devils could have taken the lead in the 2nd minute but Dimitar Berbatov saw his shot somehow deflected over the bar by Hammers goalie Matthew Upson. Nani also had a missed attempt. Manchester United saw many missed attempts at goal. When Rooney came on in the 70th minute, he failed to continue his goal run nor inspire the other players to continue to go on a scoring spree.

Man U draws with Everton

Manchester United drew with Everton 1-1 at Goodison Park. United took the lead early in the game after Darren Fletcher gave United the lead in a one-sided first half. In the second half was another story as Everton came out in the second with a strong second half. If United had won, they would have closed in to 3 points of the leaders. Hull City thrashed West Bromwich Albion 3-0 to continue their amazing start to their first season in their 104-year history with goals from Kamil Zayatte, Geovanni and Marlon King to leave on level points with leaders Liverpool and Chelsea.

Man U thrashes Celtic

Manchester United beat Scottish champions Celtic 3-0 in a Champions League match. Man U strikers Dimitar Berbatov, who scored a brace, and Wayne Rooney were on the scoresheet. It was Berbatov's 4th and 5th goals for United while Rooney scored his 9th goal in 7 matches for club and country. United could have gone ahead in the second minute when Nani crossed into the penalty area but an unmarked Anderson could not connect with the ball. In the second half, Rooney had a goal disallowed for offside although it looked onside in TV replays. Celtic, who had only one striker, had to start with a 4-5-1 formation. They now have only one point from their opening 3 matches, look set to be eliminated from the competition. United's winger Cristiano Ronaldo limped off with an injury late in the second half which could hurt their present form.

Man U thrashes West Brom

Manchester United thrashed West Bromwich albion 4-0 with Wayne Rooney continuing his goalscoring run with 8 goals in 6 games for club and country. The other goals came from Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham signing Dimitar Berbatov and Nani. There was also another thrashing by Chelsea, who beat Middlesbrough by five goals to nil. Liverpool on the other hand had another scare when Wigan Athletic gave them a scare by scoring 2 goals in the first half before Liverpool fought back and won the game 3-2. Bolton and Blackburn played out a goaless draw with Blackburn almost taking the lead through Carlos Villanueva but his shot came off the bar. Portsmouth and Aston Villa also had the same result but the hosts could scarcely claim to win the match as they relied heavily on goalkeeper Brad Friedel to protect goal. The match was overshadowed by an incident which a fan threw a coin which pole-axed the refree's assistant. Sunderland manager Roy Keane must be fuming as they were denied a goal even though Kieran Richardson's freekick went into the net. The refree ruled that there was a infringement in the wall.

Hamilton wins Chinese Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the Chinese Grand Prix ahead of title rival Felipe Massa. Hamilton did not win the Drivers Championship although so the Championship will go down to the last race in Brazil. Kimi Raikonen came in third ahead of Fernando Alonso of Renault. Nick Heidfield finished fifth ahead of teammate Robert Kubica. Raikonen had been in second until near the end when Massa overtook him. Hamilton looks set to win the championship as he is 7 points ahead of Massa. Massa will have to finish well and hope that Hamilton will have an unfortunate incident befalling him.

Alonso wins Japanese Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso made it two in a row by winning the Japanese Grand Prix at the Fuji Speedway. Robert Kubica was over 5 seconds behind in second while Kimi Raikonen took third place. Lewis Hamilton took pole position but some brash driving at the first corner on the first lap caused him to get a drive-through penalty. Hamilton had tried to overtake Raikonen after the Finn had overtaken him at the start. On the second lap, Hamilton caused Felipe Massa to slide partially into the gravel but Massa accidentally hit Hamilton's car and also got himself a drive-through penalty. Hamilton eventually finished out of the points in 12th while Massa finished 7th to earn 2 precious points. Hamilton's teammate, Heikki Kovalinen, suffered a blown engine and had to retire. Hamilton's lead in the Drivers Championship is now cut to just 5 points going into the last 2 races. Some drivers branded Hamilton's driving as "dangerous" while others advised him to cool down and not drive so aggressively. Fernando Alonso hopes that he can win the coming Chinese Grand Prix to make it three wins out of three.

Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix

On the 28th of September 2008, the world's first ever Formula 1 night race took place in Singapore at 8pm, with Fernando Alonso winning. The race was the most exciting race this season, with lots of incidents. Felipe Massa started from pole position, but an error on his 15th lap caused him a good finish. he pitted in the 15th lap but he was given the green light to go while the fuel hose was still attached to his car. He was given a drive-through penalty for the incident. Two other drivers, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica, were given 10 second stop-go penalties but both recovered to finish superbly.

Formula 1 NIght Race in Singapore

The first Formula 1 Night Race in the world will be held in Singapore on the 28th of September. It will be held around the Marina Bay street Circuit and it will pass by some tourist attractions like the Singapore Flyer and the Supreme Court.The race will start at 8pm with massive lights all around the circuit. Although some drivers still have doubts about racing under floodlights, the lighting has been tested by two F1 drivers, namely Toyota's Timo Glock and Renualt's Nelson Piquet Jr.

Spain win Euro 08!!!!

Spain beat Germany in the finals of the Euro 08 which was held in Vienna. Liverpool striker Fernando Torres scored the only goal of the game in the 33rd minute to win the game by a1-0 margin for the Spanish. The loss will be hard on Germany's captain and midfielder as he had gotten to four major including this European Championship finals since the Champions League finals in 2002 when his club lost. Germany also lost the 2002 World Cup to Brazil that year and earlier this year, his present club also lost the finals of the Champions League to Manchester United. Iker Casillas had managed to keep the Germans at bay for the match and he lifted the trophy up high in the air with pride.

Favorites Spain beat Russia to reach final

Favorites Spain beat Russia 3-0 in the other quarter-finals of the Euro 08 tournament held in Austria -Switzerland to reach the finals for the first time in 24 years. The Spanish had already beaten the Russians in the group stages in the tournament 4-1 with David Villa scoring a hat-trick in that match. This time, Russia's could not repeat the form that saw them beat Holland and progress to the semi-finals.

Germans advance to final of Euro 08

The Germans overwhelmed Turkey, who had beat Croatia in the quarter-finals, 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Euro 08. The Turkish, who had comebacks in the three previous matches, did have a late surge in the match but the Germans had a surge in the last few minutes too. Turkey had nine chances on target compared to Germany's one in the first half but they only managed to convert only one of them while the Germans manged to score with their only chance. In the second half, Germany's Mikrov Klose scored to help his team take a lead in the game for the first time in the game. The Turkish then had an equaliser not long after but they had all their good work undone at the last minute when Germany's Philipp Lahm scored a last -grasp winner to win the game for the Germans.

Here are the latest Euro 08 match schedules. Germany, who defeated Portugal 3-2, will play Turkey, who beat Croatia on penalties. The Russians, who crushed Holland 3-1 in the knockout stages, will be playing against Spain who beat world champions Italy 4-2 on penalties. Now, it seems likely that Germany would face the Russians in the finals although the Spanish could cause a major upset by beating Russia. The Germans, who are wary of the Turkish, should be able to beat the them easily as the Turkish are short of men with quality.

The Spanish beat Italy in the knockout stages of the Euro 08 tournament held in Austria-Switzerland. Spain had managed to keep the Italians at bay during the entire 120 minutes of the match without conceding a single goal while the Italians had also managed to stop the Spanish strikers like Fernando Torres from scoring a goal. Neither side could score a goal as both goalkeepers had managed to keep the ball out of each other's goal. It went on until it reached the penalty shootout. The Spanish goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, manged to save two penalties which helped Spain beat Italy on penalties 4-2.

Netherlands lose to unfancied Russians

The Netherlands lost to Russia on their quarter-final clash in the European Championship. The Netherlands had won all their matches in their group stage including a 2-0 thrashing of world- champions Italy and a 4-1 defeat of France. The Russians looked the most unlikely to win as they had lost their first group game against Spain 4-1. The Dutch had admitted they did not play well in the game an that the Russians had been the better team.

Turkey beats Croatia!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turkey beat Croatia in the knockout stage of the Euro 08 tournament held in Austria-Switzerland. The Turkish had pushed the game into extra time after the game remained goalless after normal time ended. The game still remained goalless until Croatia scored in the 119th minute. Turkey then replied with an equaliser in stoppage time. The game then went to the penalty-shootout which Turkey won 3-1after two of Croatia's players shot wide in the penalty-shootout.

Portugal knocked out by Germany

Portugal got knocked out of Euro 08 by Germany in the knockout stages 2-3. Portugal had defended badly in the whole game, and with their strikers were not able to penetrate through the German defence, particularly Cristiano Ronaldo, and they could not score enough to compensate for the number of goals that they had let in.

Manchester United beat Chelsea in the Champions League after a thrilling game. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 26th minute with a header after Wes Brown crossed the ball into the penalty area.Chelsea equalised late in the second half with Rio Fernandind and Nemanja Vidic having a deflection before Frank Lampard shot a superb shot that Edwin van der Sar failed to deal with. Chelsea had more chances in the second half but they failed to convert any of them. The game then went to extra time but none of the teams scored. The game went on until the penalty shootout which Cristiano missed his. When John Terry stepped up to take his penalty, he had the chance to win the Champions League but he slipped and missed his penalty shot. Both teams continued to score in the penalty kicks until Chelsea's seventh kick. Nicolas Anelka stepped up to take his penalty but Edwin van der Sar saved it and Manchester United were handed the Champions League title.

Portsmouth wins FA Cup

Portsmouth won the FA Cup after beating Cardiff City 1-0 with Nwankwo Kanu scoring the only goal of the game of the game in the 37th minute. Cardiff's wait for the FA Cup will have go on forn another year. Cardiff last won the FA Cup in the 1920s and they are the only non-English club to have won it so far. Portsmouth was the only Premiership club left in the FA Cup after they eliminated Manchster United in a controversial quarter-final match which Man U should have won. Portsmouth struggled to break down Cardiff's defence until the turning point came in the 37th minute. They could have scored more goals but Cardiff's defence managed to hold them off.

Manchester United won their 17th English championship and manager Alex Ferguson's 10th after they beat Wigan 2-0 at the JJB Stadium. Manchester United scored through Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half. Ryan Giggs was introduced in the second half and he then equalled Bobby Charlton's record number of appearences. Ryan Giggs had a good second half and he also scored a goal in the 80th minute. After Man U had won, Chelsea had to win their game at Bolton 20-0 to win the EPL title at Stamford Bridge but Bolton destroyed Chlsea's dreams of a win with a late goal to cause Chelsea to draw with them 1-1. Now, Chelsea's only hope of winning a title rests on the Champions League final in Moscow against Manchester United.

Manchester tharshed West Ham United 4-1 at Old Trafford with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace. United took the lead early in the first half in the third minute with a goal by Ronaldo that took a slight deflection off Lucas Neill. Ronaldo netted his second goal in the 24th minute after Carlos Tevez launched a cross into the six-yard box which Cristiano flicked in easily with his thigh. Two minutes later, Tevez scored a third goal from 30 yards out which the West Ham 'keeper failed to deal with. West Ham scored their only goal of the match in the 28th minute with an overhead kick which Edwin van de Sar failed to catch. Michael Carrick ended the game effectively in the 55th minute with a shot at goal that took a deflection off Lucas Neill again. Man chester United now look set to retain their title for the second succesive year. Chelsea must win tonight against Newcastle and hope United lose to Wigan Atheletic to have some hope of denying the Red Devils.

Chelsea went into their first Champions League final after beating Liverpool in the semi-finals. Chelsea drew 1-1 at Anfield during the first leg, with John Arne Riise scoring an own-goal in the dying minutes of the match, after LIverpool looked set to win the first leg.The second leg at Stamford Bridge was a completely different scene which Chelsea won in the end 3-2. Chelsea will now face Manchester United in the final in Moscow.

United last went into the final in 1999, which they beat Bayern Munich to win the Champions League. Chelsea drew with relegation threatened Wigan Athletic 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea scored through Michael Essien in the 55th minute and Chelsea looked set to win the game until Wigan's English striker, Emile Heskey, scored in the dying minutes with a shocking equaliser. Wigan now have hope of not playing in the Championship next season while Chelsea had a big dent in their title hopes hit hard especially now when some of their players might be unhappy with their new boss Avram Grant having bad results when important results are needed at such acrucial stage of the season. Manchester United went int the finals of the Champions League last night after beating AS Roma 1-0 at Old Trafford with Argentinian Carlos Tevez scoring the only goal of the match. SIr Alex Ferguson, the United manager, had rested a few of the players who were outstanding in recent games and that almost backfired as Roma almost scored. Roma must be rueing their missed chances which they could have scored from.

Chmpions League results

Chelsea beat Fernabache in the Chmpions League quarter-finals 2-0. Chelsea lost the first leg 1-2 with Fernabache scoring an own goal before scoring two goals against Chelsea. Chelsea won 3-2 on aggergate and went through to the semi-finals where they would most likely play against Liverpool, who beat Arsenal 4-2 at Anfield. First, Liverpool led then Arsenal equalised. Liverpool then scored another goal and Arsenal again equalised. Liverpool the scored through a Steve Gerrard penalty before Ryan Babel scored an injury time goal. Liverpool went through to the semi-finals, winning 5-3 on aggergate.

Francesco Totti is out

AS Roma captain, Francesco Totti, is out of the clash with Manchester United in the Champions League after injuring his thigh muscle. He also missed the first leg in Rome which Roma lost 0-2 and another two games in the Serie A.

Cardiff into FA Cup final

Cardiff City, the only Welsh club left in the FA Cup, has gotten into the finals after a long 81 year wait. They will face Portsmouth, who beat West Bromwich Albion, in the finals. Cardiff won by a solitary goal scored by Joe Ledly. Cariff last went into the final , which they won by beating Arsenal, in 1927.

Massa wins Baharin Grand Prix

Brazilian Felipe Massa won the Bahrain Grand Prix this afternoon. He seems to like the track very much in recent years as he also won at the track last year. He led for almost the entire race. Ferrari also had a one-two finish with Kimi Raikonen finishing almost 3 seconds behind in 2nd place. Lewis Hamilton finished 13th after having a torrid afternoon.

Tie&Dye

On Friday in school, we did our art, which is the tie and dye. It was quite fun dipping our clothes into the different colour dyes and seeing our work after they had dried .

Bolton out of UEFA Cup

Bolton, the only English team left in the UEFA Cup, went out after losing to Sporting Lisbon 0-1 after drawing the first leg 1-1 and losing 1-2 on aggregate. Now, the only British club left in the UEFA Cup is the Scottish team Rangers. They went through to the quarter-finals after winning 2-1 on aggregate.

English clubs suffer heartbreak in UEFA Cup

Tottenham Hotspurs and Everton suffered losses in the UEFA Cup after bringing the game into extra time then into the dreaded penalty-shootout. The Spurs lost the first-leg to PSV Eindhoven 0-1 but drew level in the second-leg after a Dimitar Berbatov to bring the game into extra time. Tottenham and PSV did not manage to score in extar time so the game went into the penalty shootout which they lost narrowly 6-5. Everton also drew level from their first-leg 0-2 loss. they scored with goals from Andy Johnson and Mikel Arteta. the game went into the penalty-shootout which Everton lost 4-2. Now, the only English team left in the UEFA Cup is Bolton Wanderers. In Paris, France ended their participation in the UEFA Cup after Marseille lost to Zenit Saint Petersburg 0-2.

Chelsea destroys Derby

Chelsea mauled Derby County 6-1 at Stamford Bridge with Frank Lampard scoring four goals to ease the pressure from the critics. After a series of losses, this will definitely be a big boost to Avram Grant as the Chelsea manager. Lampard scored four fantastic goals against Derby, the Premier League's bottom club, with Salomon Kalou and Joe Cole getting their names on the scoresheet too.

Liverpool through to quarter-finals

Liverpool is through to the quarter-finalsof the UEFA Chamoions League after beating Inter Milan at the San Siro. Arsenal also won at the San Siro last week. For the first time in the Champions League , half of the eight quarter-finalists this year will be English cluba. Liverpool went to the San Siro to protect their 2-0 lead from the first leg in Liverpool and they did it in style. First, Inter had a defender sent off, like in the first leg, then they let Liverpool have a number of good chances. West Bromwich Albion 5-1 in the FA cup's quater-finals with one of West Bromwich's strikers grabbing a hat-trick. The League One side was 0-2 down early but scored a goal which gave them a slight glimmer of hope to claw back into the game. Man U goes out in FA cup quarter-final

Manchester United lost to Portsmouth 0-1 during their FA cup quater-final match at Old Trafford. Portsmouth scored through a penalty after Tomas Kuszczak brought down a Portsmouth player in the penalty box. After he was red-carded, Rio Fernandind donned the 'keepers gloves but failed to catch the resulting penalty. Michael Carrick missed a golden oppotunity to score in front of an open net. Manchester United also had a penalty appeal turned down after Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down in the penalty box.

Formula 1 hit by racism

Lewis Hamilton was jeered by fans during last year's Spanish Grand Prix. The fans also jeered at him while he was having practice at another circuit in Spain. The FIA is threatening to ban both F1 races in Spain which is the Spainish Grand Prix at Barcelona and the European Grand Prix at Valencia.

Chelsea beats Everton

Chelsea beat Everton at Goodison Park yesterday in their second leg League Cup semi-final clash with Joe Cole scoring the only goal in this thrilling match. Chelsea was leading from the first leg clash and won with an aggregate of 3-1. Chelsea will now play Tottenham Hotspurs in the League Cup final.

Soccer news - Spurs upset Arsenal

Tottenham Hot spurs beat Arsenal in the League Cup final 5 - 1 at White Hart Lane yesterday after they drew the first leg. They reached their first soccer final in many years. There was also a brawl between two of Arsenal's strikers during the match.
